As a passage management device, the turnstile controls people’s flow, regulating entry and exit to ensure that only one person passes at a time. Widely used at various access points, these devices serve as physical boundaries and symbolize a transition from a public space to an area governed by a specific organization. Through the turnstile’s filtering process, individual identities are progressively abstracted and transformed into cold, data-driven numbers, placed under strict surveillance and management.
In "M6310", we have constructed a surveillance system that observes real-time data on visitor flow within the exhibition space, exploring the phenomenon of individual identity dissolution within collectively managed public spaces. The work seeks to reveal how individuals are gradually reduced to data points within such a technologically driven framework, stripped of their original uniqueness, and subsequently compressed and overlooked in the process.
